School Snapshot

Trinity Christian School of Montville, New Jersey, is a board-governed private Christian day school following a classical model of education. The school does not discriminate against anyone on the basis of race, color, and national or ethnic origin. It is a non-parochial school that remains accountable to parents by endeavoring to provide a satisfactory service within the confines of its own commitment to Christian education. TCS was founded in 1986 and currently serves approximately 160 students from Kindergarten through grade 12.

TCS provides a complete educational program that challenges students to pursue excellence in all their studies. Small class sizes and a high level of individual attention help students handle the rigors of the academic environment. Students receive early instruction in basic skills and extensive instruction for subject-content literacy. The elementary curriculum also provides for Latin instruction and exposure to literary classics. At the secondary level, in a college preparatory academic program, students also study formal logic and rhetoric and approach studies in all disciplines with the goal of developing a biblical worldview.

Students transferring from other schools, public or private, generally require a period of adjustment. Throughout the years, TCS students have repeatedly performed well on the average above the 90 percentile level in standardized tests of elementary-level basic skills. This success has continued throughout high school. The mean composite SAT score over sixteen years, representing students with a broad range of academic abilities, is 1293. Ninety percent (90%) of our graduates have matriculated at four-year colleges and universities. They report being well prepared for college.

There is essentially one college-preparatory track through the school, with an honors track offered for select classes. An increasing number of Advanced Placement courses are taught. As a result, percentage grades are weighted for academic standing. Since our course of study is guided by the classical tradition, the level of work we require is generally equivalent to that for AP or honors courses at other schools.

Trinity Christian School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS), the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), the Northern New Jersey Christian School Association (NNJCSA), and the Metro Christian Athletic Association (MCAA). The ACCS is a national organization setting an educational standard for a unified approach to classical and Christian learning. ACSI, having a membership of 5000 schools in more than 100 countries, provides programs and services to assist Christian schools at every grade level. NNJCSA provides inter-scholastic competitions for elementary students; while MCAA organizes the athletic schedules for our high school sports teams.
