Alumni - Impact of TCS

EG
Following my graduation from TCS in 2018, I attended Fairleigh Dickinson University where I
graduated summa cum laude this past May 2022, earning a Bachelor’s in both History and
Government. As I look back on my college experience, I am thankful for how God used TCS to
provide an academic and spiritual foundation which helped me to succeed in an academically
rigorous, secular environment.
While I had heard from other alum that taking Gen-Eds in college was much simpler after having
taken classes at TCS, I didn’t fully believe them until I was sitting in my Gen-Ed math class.
Math has never been my strong suit (and frankly, still isn’t!) but through the concepts I learned at
TCS, I was able to remain at the top of my class. While many students had never learned the
concepts before, the class was a review of the math concepts already taught to me at TCS.
Professors, particularly in classes with a lot of writing, were surprised by my knowledge of
grammar and ability to express cohesive arguments on the page. Once again, I am thankful for
TCS’s role in this. From elementary school grammar drills to Great Books’ papers to debates in
Rhetoric class, TCS helped prepare me for college. I remember one English professor saying to
me, “I have never heard of Trinity Christian School before, but apparently I should. They are
clearly doing something right.” I would agree.

However, TCS did not only prepare me academically but spiritually as well. The Word of God
was expounded upon simply and understandably in our chapels, and Worldview classes
provided an example of how to engage with ideas from other religions and explain the Christian
worldview. Because of this, I was able to engage with secular philosophical arguments
graciously yet intelligently and more personally, to remain firm in my faith when faced with
ungodly ideas. Overall, I am thankful for the work of the teachers at TCS and pray that the
faithful work would continue.
